On Friday 11th May Alex Scarrow, Author of the TimeRiders series visited our Barnfield Campus, to once again inspire and enthuse our next set of Year 7 students on creative writing.
The morning started with an assembly to the whole of Year 7 followed by two workshops held during period 2 and 3 on how to get ideas for writing, it was a pretty full on morning for Mr Scarrow.
Alex’s background in rock music and video games make him an entertaining and engaging speaker.
He is most famous for his “Timeriders” series of Science Fiction/Historical novels, a series of nine novels which might be about to be reborn. This is the second time Alex has visited us and again the Students enjoyed his infectious delivery and interactive workshops.
Robert Logan, QE Librarian said “Huge thanks to all who helped organise the day, Clive, David, Judith, Cal, Kate, Shengi, Danielle, Hayley and Alastair. Lots of people get involved with these events and that in itself is a joy. To be so well supported in such a strong school community.
Many thanks to them and Alex and his wife Debs for making the visit so memorable.”
Here are a few “What Ifs….” from Alex’s workshops that students came up with for the basis of a novel.
