QE is an active member of both the South West Teaching School Alliance and the Dartmoor Teaching School Alliance. Teaching schools are a major part of the national agenda to raise standards, deliver professional development and the recruitment and training of new teachers.
We offer placements and training to graduates who are following PGCE programmes in order to become teachers with a number of local Universities.
Our school is part of a growing number of schools providing more school-led teacher training through the School Direct route.
We have vacancies now to start training from September 2017 in the following subjects: English, Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Modern Foreign Languages, History and PE. The training is structured to enable you to complete the majority of your teaching practice at Queen Elizabeth’s as well as attending the University of Exeter for the academic elements of the course. We work in partnership with the Dartmoor Teaching School Alliance to ensure that we develop the very best teachers who have a high probability of then securing employment within the Alliance of schools.
Please contact Martin Smith at firstname.lastname@example.org or 01837 650910 for an informal discussion regarding the programme. We can also provide you with support and guidance on your application form and offer you school experience if you just want a taster of what teaching could be like.
We offer a variety of training courses to support our own staff and colleagues across the teaching school alliances. These include the Olevi Improving Teacher and Outstanding Teacher Programmes and Effective Behaviour Management, part of the Secondary Teacher Toolkit Series.
